Kormyn

Landscape reserve, protected by the state, is located near the village of Brestyane.

Area – 549 hectares.

The reserve stretches for fifteen kilometers along the river Kormyn, after which it is named. Protected are forest areas about 100 years old, swamps and meadows.

The reserve territory is also of water protection significance.

The river Kormyn originates in the swamps north of Tsuman, flows through a swampy lowland 53 km and flows into the river Styr.

The reserve is rich in flora and fauna.

Rare plants growing here: Volyn spurge, marsh helleborine and butterwort, swamp sawgrass, garland flowers and others.

Rare species that live here are medical leech, yellow swallowtail, beautiful demoiselle, purple emperor, large carder bee, black stork, osprey, lesser spotted eagle, gray crane, gray shrike, river otter, ermine, which are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Ospreys and woodpeckers are included in the European Red List.
